<< 2002 2003 2004 >> -------------------- August 31, 2004 Tim Duncan: 2003 NBA Most Valuable Player
Born: April 25, 1976. St Croix, Virgin Islands, Virgin Islands. College: Wake Forest NBA start: Selected first overall in 1997 NBA draft by San Antonio. Size: Height:7'0" - Weight:248lbs MVP stats: gp:81 - mpg:39.3 - ppg:23.3 - rpg:12.9 - apg:3.9 - fg%:51.3 - ft%:71.0 Team standing: San Antonio 60-22, first in Midwest division. Ousted New Jersey 4-2 in NBA finals. Comments: Jason Kidd of New Jersey was also a possible candidate for the award, because of his contribution to his team's overall success (from lottery to #2 seed). But considering the expectations the Spurs had to meet, and the fact that the team goes as Duncan goes, there was just no comparison. It was also the end of the twin tower era in San Antonio (2 NBA titles, 3 division titles) as David Robinson retired at season's end. -------------------- << 2002 2003 2004 >> Back to MVPs' list Back to NBA almanac |
