<< Back Next >> -------------------- April 01, 2001 April foolishness Toronto Raptors fans are expected to go hard at Tracy McGrady. Oh yes indeed welcome back Mr McGrady. There's no denying he got stardom written all over him. And what really pains Torontonians is that, he could've been doing it for their local team. They think T-Mac has sold out? Well don't sigh too early because Carter might be on the way out. If the audience in the arena do try to show their ugly side by acting foolishly Carter might get their message loud and clear. The bigger the star, the bigger the treachery, the colder the vengeance. Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby, and Isiah Thomas did feel the wrath of the fans' displeasure, but it seems theirs won't compare to Tracy's reception. No April fool It seems like the league has genuinely planned this first day of April, offering us two homecoming games in which the person returning is disliked by his former team. Talk about being fooled into unpleasant territory. Officially April fool ends at Noon so there shouldn't be any ill-advised behavior. Could there Mr Stern? Love and Hate These were supposed to be Glen Rice's best times in the league, but the reaction from him is mixed. He did win an NBA title during his time as a Laker, but also had a rocky relationship with the organization. Today he comes back to the Staples Center to face the team that offered him his best memory and his worst experience as a pro player. While there he will be presented with his "Bling-Bling" Championship ring - Shaq had Lakers owner Jerry Buss engrave those words on the rings. Needless to have a discussion about hip hop and hoops. The Lakers offered to present the ring to him publicly, but he refused. After all who wants to be honored while being booed? << Back Next >> Back to archive |
