Some might say it was against a cellar-dweller, but its well legitimate. So soft and too tough Charles Oakley is a tough guy, maybe too tough for his and the Raptors good. On the other hand Keith Van Horn is accused of being too soft by his team. Maybe they should swap these guys for each other. Van Horn might have not been 100% since his injury and probably is still trying to adjust to his new small forward position. Oakley went at The Sixers Tyrone Hill again. This time throwing a ball at him. The best thing that came out of that is the Raptors' win. When the Oak tree went at Jeff McInnis of the Clippers a while back, Toronto came out with a vengeance seemingly trying to avenge him. This time they came out with a vengeance against the Sixers. And ran them out of the building and continued on all the way to the bank - except Oakley. He's after 60 g's Tyrone owes him. With his suspension and fine he lost his salary for the game and that totals more than 80 grand. Leash master Gundy New York Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy has made several trades this year, but despite so, his playing rotation has remained almost the same as it's been the last couple of years. Makes you wonder why he trades for players if they won't get used. Maybe circumstances but it's he's job to make it work. Last night in Madison Square Garden, aside from Lattrell Sprewell and Marcus Camby all of the starters were leashed to the pine the whole fourth quarter. They were replaced by Kurt thomas 15 points, 6 rebounds, Charlie Ward 11 points 5 assists, and Glen Rice 11 points. Van Gundy: "I am done talking to the starting group about their responsibilities. They have to get loose, get into a sweat, and they have to play well, and if they don't they are coming out, that's just how it is. It's too late in the year to beg them." Tough. It was once again Marcus Square Garden night. Marcus Camby had a double, double-double with 23 points and 20 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks and 2 steals. Garden favorite Spreewell (or is it Van Gundy's favorite?) had 14 points 6 assists and 5 rebounds Tracy McGrady was injured in the first quarter and was done. He wants to face this squad in the playoffs, but the wise man will say "be careful what you wish for". << Back Next >> Back to archive Back to top
