<< Back Next >> -------------------- April 12, 2001 Log on and C Webb on Web Yes ladies and gentlemen, Chris Webber will be on the Web, facing the giants of Dallas, Wang Zhizhi Dirk Nowitzki, and Shawn Bradley. The Mavericks and Kings' game tomorrow will be the first ever webcast basketball game of the NBA. They call it an experiment. Ruler Stern of NBA Land has taken the league's marketing power to another level. 3 years from now he might decide to cash in on the dropping league attendance. He just might strike a deal with Compaq, or IBM, and some DSL ISP provider, show NBC and Turner Sports the doors of his Olympic Tower office, so that way we'll all have to buy a computer and subscribe to an ISP to watch the games. ISP cost alone is more than the free NBC broadcast. So that's an area of profit. The computer company of his choice will also be paying dues to the league. And to top it all off it's always easier to sit and watch at home, especially when knowing there's no other place to watch the games. Lord Stern have pity on your people do not do such. Well maybe it's just my ideas running wild << Back Next >> Back to archive |
