<< Back Next >> -------------------- February 1, 2001 It was about time. David Stern finally gave the nod to my favorite swingman to be showcased in the Capital City. Since he was suspended in Golden State by the Commish, Sprewell had launched a lawsuit at the NBA. An action which comes off as a personal attack on Stern. His recognition by Stern might be his cue to drop the suit. On the other hand let's hope the Basketball Don didn't just act so because of all the New York tabloids and fans screaming at him. After all there was Antoine Walker, Paul Pierce, Elton Brand (team's record don't matter, just look at Mutombo, and Starbury), Jamal Mashburn, Eddie Jones, and Jalen Rose. Since he joined the Knicks Sprewell has been a solid citizen. His selection not only recognizes Sprewell's efforts at redeeming himself, but it also shows that it's time to forgive and forget-O.K only forgive-but it does show it's time to move on. Stern's selection might not sit well with the coaching fraternity, which had overlooked Sprewell in response to Carlesimo's position as one of their own. Dikembe Mutombo celebrated his all-star selection in front of his former coach by working the Raptors' low-post players for 29 snatches, and 21 points. Was he trying to prove he deserved it [the selection]? I'd rather have picked Jermaine O'neal, but i see, he ain't from Georgetown. Today is Camby's day back in the spotlight. And today is the game I wish woudln't happen. The Answer and Spree has to be a good show, except when you've been rooting for both of them the whole season. Let's see how a late addition swingman celebrates his all-star selection. Stack only triple doubles which actually help your team count. 10 turnovers? well at least you won. << Back Next >> Back to archive Back to top
