<< Back Next >> -------------------- June 07, 2001 Theo, nice knowing you The Sixers have finally now truly welcomed Dikembe Mutombo to their line-up. Now that trade with Theo seems like the thing that had to be done. No one in these playoffs or even in the last playoffs defended Shaq as well as Deke. He didn't stop the Daddy, but he did more than anyone could do against him. After everyone, except HoopsCorner, had discounted Philly from the finals there was nothing left to do, but to watch and let actions speak for themselves. Last night in Philly's win over L.A, the Lakers might have been rusty from their layoff. Or yet the fact that Kobe wasn't the Kobe we're used to, made the Sixers look mighty. If all the above were factors in the Sixers win they'll still gladly take the win. L.A might get everything fixed and dominate like they were before. But Philly have reminded us all that the Eastern Conference is still part of the NBA, not your local basketball camp. The last time the Lakers lost? it was to the Knicks without Kobe Bryant for the last 3 quarters. In the last update (June 4, 2001) I bet the Lakers wouldn't go undefeated. That's something to celebrate. The aftermath: find out who had the "wrong" M.I.A, and you know his team had better days.
