<< Back Next >> -------------------- June 16, 2001 We love jewels The Lakers love them all. Whether it's rolexes courtesy of Daddy, gold chains that can fill the salary cap, or glittering championship hardware that read "bling bling" (Cash-Money records has to be proud). For the Victor's apparel - besides hats - it seems like letter jackets are now part of the mix too. The Lakers win 4 straight games including 3 in Sixerland, to bag their second back to back title. The days of asking "how many did Kobe score tonight?" (at least by me), and "which one of them do you think should be traded?" are only distant memories now. Philly played good, but L.A was the playoff bombshell. 15-1 record and the best palyoff run ever. In this series the Sixers needed a second scorer besides Iverson. Just for that series Iverson might wish Stackhouse, Tim Thomas, Larry hughes, or Derrick Coleman (when he was in shape), or even Keith Van Horn (never played in Philly but was drafted 2nd by them) were still on the team. But they got sent packing so he could shine. In the last game when all is already known, except the actual margin of victory for L.A, that's when Larry Brown decides to foul Shaq. Talk about catching on a little too late. Philly could've been up 2-0 coming home if he had been doing that earlier. The Playoffs told an interesting story, quite a story-book ending, but it doesn't tell the whole thing. This season was Allen Iverson's from start to finish. Once again let's make it known. Jerry West what a genius you are. << Back Next >> Back to archive |
