<< Back Next >> -------------------- May 16, 2001 The Baron's hunting grounds After feisting on sweet honey (cheers) at the hive, the Charlotte Hornets knew after the party comes the grind. They saddled their horses and rode up North to hunt for some Bucks. Baron Davis showed his hunting skills with range and accuracy by gunning five times from beyond the arc. Now he and and Jamal Mashburn are leading the troops back home to celebrate some more. Hope you still have some shells left Mr Baron, because these Bucks might just be wounded not dead. If it's the former you'll have to chase them back to Milwaukee (for game 7) where they might do some celebrating of their own. M.V.P Just like expected Allen Iverson bagged the MVP trophy. The thing many people might have not noticed is that on TV we never got to see him being handed the trophy by some top notch guy. Say David Stern or Julius Erving since he won one while with the team and is the last Sixer to do it. No, better yet Money himself. Just like Iverson, MJ was the top steals man and scoring champion and won the MVP back in '93. Maybe they're saving that moment for the game tonight I don't know. Ruler Stern did travel coast to coast to hand Shaq the hardware last year though. Jordan used to have some beef with Iverson. Why can't we all get along? Why can't differences be checked at the door just for the sake of recognizing the man's attempt to better fit into the business. Or was it the "unformal" attire. MVP might as well stand for: My Vindication Period. Or since Iverson will keep being Iverson: Me Versus the People. Unseen Webb Chris Webber has been seen but he seems to have been forgotten as the season wore on. He was being mentioned along with Iverson as being the top candidates for MVP, yet he came in 4th behind Iverson, Duncan, and O'Neal. Maybe the Kings poor finish might have put a dent into his stature. Their eventual sweep by the Lakers might have inched the dent in further - unless the votes were tallied before then. That's probably it for Webber as a King, now he might go look for friends others attribute some kind of high status to: Spree or Peja, Shaq or Vlade, Francis or Jackson and Williams, Reggie or Christie, Motown or Sactown, Michael Jordan or Geoff Petrie. Whatever you do Chris if you really want it all next year, there are only a handfull of places for you. The loot will almost always be there. << Back Next >> Back to archive Back to top
