M.I.A

The Cinderella run that saw Jamal Mashburn going from being always mashed to becoming the monster masher, ended just as it began - suddenly and quietly.

With a trip to the Conference Finals on the line, although it wasn't all his fault, Mashman still reminded us of why he was Pat Riley's whipping boy.

To borrow from Chad Ridgeway (again) Mashburn was again the reason for the Heat's failures. He was also responsible for his team having a chance to close out the Bucks in six, but was also the reason, the series extended to 7 games.

For most of the series he was the M.I.A (Man In Action) but the Magic wore off a little sooner than expected, revealing him to us the way we've always known him best as - Missing In Action.

You might think it's unfair Mash, but all we ask is that even in a loss we still want to be able to look at your game and be able to tell that you never gave up. maybe you didn't, but this scenario is all too familiar.

With the Bucks' 4-3 win, George Karl avoids living up to his title as an unproven playoff coach.

Now what?

Just as Michael Jordan said a few days ago (May 17) that they might trade the # 1 overall pick if they get it, his Wizards were the grand winners on lottery Sunday.

There's no consensus best player in the draft so unless MJ trades in his Armani for a Wizards' authentic, whatever he does will probably still yield a mediocre record.

Building solidly to the top

Iverson is solid, his teammates are solid and tough, his bricks are even harder and tougher to swallow. They'll get jammed in anybody's throat if they try to win while racking up A.I's misses.

Unlike Jamal Mashburn Iverson won despite forgetting his shooting stroke back at the crib. His teammates checked in with theirs.

As a former play-maker Iverson went back to his roots and dished the rock at least 16 times, but still had room to heave it up 27 times.

Philly got lucky, but a win is a win.

Folks critic Vince Carter's decision to attend his graduation as if he didn't know what he was getting into. The man had his reasons, and was surely well aware of his situation. Toronto was still in the game despite it all.
