1 dialect chiefly British : a piece of cloth or leather : RAG (Teams have been dusted like dusting rags, by the Lakers)

2 : a blow especially with the hand; also : a hard hit in baseball (The exact description of the Lakers effect on the Spurs' pride)

T : a white cloth on a stake or frame used as a target in archery (I don't quite get this one, but La la land is targeting the Larry O'brien trophy)

4 : PULL, INFLUENCE (The Lake Show are trying to pull the title their way, and only their influence has been felt. They have imposed their will on all in the west.)

Function: transitive verb

Date: 14th century

1 : to cover or patch with a clout (Seemingly every team's destiny, when at the hand of the Lakers)

Having the clout in the NBA means being 11-0 in the playoffs, and sweeping through your toughest opponent (at least so far) 4-0.
