<< Back Next >> -------------------- December 08, 2001 Unfazed With every loss, the Sacramento Kings seemed to loose the Lakers' respect. Most importantly though, and apparently, they haven't lost their edge against them. The Kings hosted the Lakers last night and the outcome was in favor of the most entertaining squad. 6 of the 8 Kings who played scored at least 10 points including all the starters. Kobe was well in check by the Kings defense, which permitted him to duplicate an Allen Iverson shooting night (9-23). Diesel was Diesel with 31 and 16. Sacramento neutralized him by cancelling out his partners in crime. Impressive. No Shaq expansionism doesn't figure in Sacramento's agenda without C-Webb. Can Sacramento get any better with Chris Webber in the lineup? Will his production add to their offensive fire-power, or just cancel out some of the current cast's output? The Kings of Sacramento still have pride, but you'd bet they want some respect from the NBA Kings. The old 7 game classic will always get you all that and more. So until then, a great win yes, yet still just a minor dent. Jeff has left Jeff Van Gundy has resigned as coach of the New York Knickerbockers. Never thought such a phrase could be a reality. The sad reality is, it is. Did Spree say something, is Houston's silence to deafening, Camby's frequent injuries too devastating, Mark Jackson's defense sagging, Kurt Thomas an ingredient short of intimidating, or the team's inconsistancies too striking to bear. He's had success through all these flaws before. The team was starting to awake from its summer sleep. Did he call it quits because he knew his days were numbered? Did management demand results that would be reflective of the 9 digit investment they made this summer or he's gone? A long-shot scenario could be that Pat Riley doesn't want to stain his coaching record to much with the loosing. He decides to move into the front office and wants a proven student (of his) to relay him. Maybe also promises XXXL sized wads of cash. Isn't it close to how Riley too left NYC? << Back Next >> Back to archive Back to top
