All-star dreams

Yesterday was the last day to vote for starters for the NBA All-Star game, which is set in Philadelphia on February 10. What it means for all-star hopefulls is that from now on they have to try to sell themselves to the coaches.

Try convincing a coach you deserve to make it, while getting his home team fans to boo his team, or giving your fans a treat at the expense of his team.

Regardless of who will make it, here's our list of the players we think should be starting:

East:
Antoine Walker
Vince Carter
Jermaine O'neal
Jason Kidd
Ray Allen

West:
Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan
Shaquille O'neal
Steve Nash
Kobe Bryant

Technically everyone who will play is an MVP candidate, but here are our real candidates in order of probability:

#1 Kobe Bryant: won a title here and grew up here, high school buddies, sweethearts and coaches will be watching.

#2 Allen Iverson: his place, his fans. Him winning it can do wonders in helping philly turn their season around.

#3 Jerry Stackhouse: (if he makes the cut) this is where it all began for him. It was suppose to be Stack's house, until Ive.....

#4 Michael Jordan: Loves the game, loves the attention. An "A" game is needed, for the most apparent heir, whom he hasn't faced yet (this season), is poised for a big showing.

By the looks of the NBA standings landscape, our beloved Knicks will probably see a closed door at the First Union Center, since none of them might not be called up for the main event.

As of now the coaches are, for the East Byron Scott and Phil Jackson for the West.

Flip Saunders (Minnesota) and Greg Popovich (San Antonio) in the West still have a chance.

Jim O'Brien (Boston) in the East has 2 studs in his squad, motivated by last year's snubs, that can get the spot for him.

George Karl's (Milwaukee) team has 4 or 5 potential all-stars. None of them wouldn't mind seeing their coach in Philly either.

No coach can go 2 years in a row, so Rick Adelman (Sacramento) is out of the race.
