Republic of Lake

Why are the Lakers so good! It mostly has to do with the structure of their team. In The Laker army, we do a brief case study of the main components of Jerry Buss's team.

Jordan Phobia

As anyone who knows NBA basketball is aware of, the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan have their differences.

How bad to the Bulls' bosses dislike Michael Jordan?

Yesterday the word out of Chicago was that they fired their arena's public announcer, Ray Clay. Yes the one whose voice was made to introduce Jordan-led title teams.

When MJ played for the visiting Washington Wizards, Mr Clay had wanted to give Mr Jordan a rousing introduction like in the old days. Not if the current head honchos had anything to say about it. Jordan ended up being introduced as a regular visiting player, just like the rest of his Wizards teammates. Only the crowd's cheering made him distinguishable.

"When you put two and two together, that's all it could be, I can't think of anything else I ever did wrong." he says.

Our advice to Ray? Don't sweat it, you were working for the wrong franchise, since MJ left.

Out in Houston Texas, they're still giving warm introductions to a departed franchise player. When Hakeem Olajuwon visited the Compaq center for the first time ever as a visiting player, you would have thought he was mistakenly wearing the Toronto Raptors' uniform. Dream in his visit to Houston got a better introduction from the public announcer than Steve Francis, houston's franchise player.
