Excelling in Exel

He can be a pain in the team's plans, or a coach's pet peeve, see Lakers. But not to the Nuggets.

Nick Van Exel was always a clutch shooter. Employers might resent his scowl. but when it comes to business he can light it up as well as anyone. That is when he's interested.

With Jason Kidd in town, it was time for a heart check.

Van drove the Nuggets to a win, while paving the way with 30 points and 8 assists. Not to mention a larger than life 3 pointer and 2 free throws in overtime.

Jason Kidd, the prototype for the ideal playmaker, went 2 for 14 but his game isn't measured there. Rather by the 13 assists and 7 rebounds he claimed.

Scoring however is still the most important stat, even of it's not his forte. Therefore the 2 for 14 glaringly impacted the game.

We'd been waiting for Kenyon Martin to have a breakout game. He did with a 12-17 stroke for 28 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 rejects. It is impressive but considering that they lost we'll need more proof. Hold some of the credit for now. That's the way it is Kenyon. If McDyess was there we'd give you your due without hesitation, but you understand.

Nick what happened to the tilted headband?
