Rising air Scoring race
Sixed by Sixers Sixers

Rising air

Last night as the Lakers manhandled the Nuggets, by 21 points (89-68), Superman who wasn't needed to save the day took advantage to buy himself a rest.

Shaquille kneeled down his game for 10 points, going 4 for 11 on field goals and 2 for 9 at the free throw line.

Before that game he was the leading scorer in the NBA with 29 some points. After that one, well he still is, but with 27.5 PPG. Looking up closely at the scoring leaders we can spot the old scoring warhorse right up there in the thick of things.

Indeed it is Air himself. Michael Jordan. He's now 2nd on the scoring list with 27.4 PPG. And he might well take the lead tonight with a good game against the Pacers.

He's supposed to get better as the season drags on, but he can also get winded as it winds down. It's no doubt he will be thinking about an 11th (scoring) crown if he realizes he has a chance to get it.

Iverson is still reconstructing his stroke, Carter is bringing his up, and Paul Pierce is shooting for the stars too. Missing from the ranks is Stackhouse who might opt for more team success.

An interesting race indeed. If MJ does manage to win the scoring race he would probably be the oldest to do it. Not to mention perhaps also recording the poorest field goal percentage for a scoring champion.

The consensus here is that Iverson will battle the tag-team of Kobe and Shaq for MVP and the shooting crown.

Sixed by Sixers

The Sixers made the Pistons their 6th consecutive victim.

The anticipated matchup we talked about yesterday didn't materialize though. Stack who was playing poorly left in the third quarter because of a pulled groin.

A.I too was shooting poorly. But shooting 35 times with determination will unyield a treasure. In Iverson's case 12 trips to the free throw line and 38 points.

Clifford Robinson picked up Stackhouse's slack with 35 points on 10 for 21 and 12 for 14 at the line. Ben Wallace snatched 12 boards and erased 6 Sixer shots, but was then himself, erased from the game by the referees with 6 fouls.

As it stands now, as good as the other East teams have gotten the evidence collected so far seem to uphold Philadelphia as the East's true beast.
