Shareef Abdur-Rahim Hard feelings while away Don't know how we ever missed this one. While scouring last night's games schedule for a game to preview none should've been more enticing than the Heat-Mavs game. In other words Hardaway versus Riley. While not in Miami Tim hardaway has had harsh things to say about Pat Riley. The man who rescued him from the NBA ghetto called Golden State, and showed him the bright lights, the man who offered him an 8 figure salary in his twilight years just because Tim had shown heart. The man under whom Tim reached his best combination of personal and team success. Well that's business folks. Alonzo Mourning probably returned from his illness to be part of the show too. But dirk Nowitzki returned from his illness to take care of business. Captain Dirk had 33 points and 11 rebounds. While Steve Nash, ripped 6 boards, checked his court vision for 9 assists and aimed for 22 points. Tim hardaway? He ran for 17 minutes going 2 for 7 with 5 points. Miami Heat point guard Anthony Carter had 12 assists in 28 minutes but only 2 points. Dallas rolls up 8-5 for the season and Heat tumbles to 2-9. What's wrong with Rod Strickland sitting on the bench? Yeah he's older, and his email address might read something like dirty@titude.com but he can put up numbers. And Miami needs plenty right now. Dats da soun' o' da Shareef ! ! ! Shareef was the savior of his town last night, and the man in all NBAland. He arrested the Pistons as they were trying to climb closer to the top of the Central division. With a balanced offense where 6 of the 8 people playing finished in double figures, the Pistons had more than made up for the absence of Jerry Stackhouse, who got injured in the last game. After scoring 22 points in the first half Shareef Abdur-Rahim more than matched that in the second half to finish with the half-century mark in points. 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 8 for 8 at the line, 21 for 30 on field goals, and 1 block were part of the overall effort to prove that he really was feeling and having, a good game. The dirty birds run the Pistons out of the Phillips arena. << Back Next >> Back to archive Back to top
