Hometown team versus hometown legend

Oakland, California- Jason Kidd played on the playgrounds here, he went to high school here, he went to college here and he could be an NBA MVP from here.

It's all Kidd all the time when he's around here. When you're the Golden State Warriors however, you have to realize that this is your turf. Kidd is no longer here, but there. There on the cusp of the East coast, as far away you can get from Southern California and still be on the same piece of land. So when he comes into town it's not to hug and kiss everybody, but to accomplish a mission. A mission of offense against none other than you, the team everyone here is supposed to cheer for. You the Warriors of this place.

Here's the great coup though. The Big Kidd is having his high school number retired after the game. If he wins this game against you, it will serve as an aperitif for the high school party.

Point taken, the Warriors' players loaded up. Troy Murphy grabbed 19, and sunk 11, Antawn Jamison hit for 29 and snatched 10. To help finish off the New Jersey Nets, Earl Boykins was unleashed from the bench. He gave out 6 and filled in 23.

Jason Kidd? He came in with all canons loose: 41 in the tin and 7 in his teammates platers. Maybe he was thinking of the party er, ceremony after the game, which distracted him enough to turnover the rock 5 times.

105-97. Long live the Warriors in Oakland.
