21 gun salute

We took a round of the NBA teams' websites to see what they were up to. Many were interesting but none was more enticing to discuss than the Miami Heat's. The splash banner at the top of the main page reads "Shaq in black" with a shoulder cut picture of the big fella on the left.

For such a big moment for the team you would've expected a more fanfared banner, a more spirited approach. Whatever happened to something like "feel the excitement"? But maybe it's just us. Besides the black jersey will only apply while the team is away, because the home jersey is white.

However, no matter how the Heat choose to celebrate Shaq's arrival into town the fact is they've got him. The good part is they didn't have to give up any of their top players. Eddie Jones, and Dwyane (we suspect this to be a surviving birth certificate typo a la Antawn Jamison) Wade are still in town. We couldn't believe there was talk of whose team it is. It's true, we read interview transcripts on the site. Shaq said it was Dwyane's team... - wink, wink.

Now, forget a midseason sunday afternoon meeting between the Lakers and Pistons on ABC, the money matchup this season is Heat-Lakers.
