- Despite all the bashing awarded to Karl Malone during his Utah Jazz years we just can't help but root for the Lakers just so the old man gets to adorn his fingers. Unlike other many ringless superstars his durability in the sport has to be saluted. 19 years in the game, and is there any doubt he could average over 19 solid points while still in Utah? Oh yeah we want one for Payton too. - The Lakers have awakened. A four game winning streak is the significance of an awakened giant - at least we think so. Just for the record, no swingman in the league has a thing on Kobe. Our proof: McGrady's team lost 18 straight game to begin the season. Shaq or no Shaq, we truly think had Kobe been in his place he would've done something to halt that skid, by doing something ridiculous in one of the games. And how about that game 4 against the Spurs. Such a standout performance. - It seemed like a joke at first when Pat Riley handed the team to Stan Van Gundy right before the begining of the regular season. But a 42-40 record is a far cry from those sentiments. Could Riley himself have mustered such a finish? Maybe. But a new face plate was in order for the rebuilding effort. - What's Stephon Marbury thinking as he watches the Timberwolves now? Can he even bear to watch. He's become nothing more than than a patch on every team he's been on, until an upgrade came along. It's like proudly sticking with that pizza delivery gig to pay your college bills, because you know there's something better down the road. How things could have been far easier for him. But he got his money (so did KG), and a Division banner and an MVP crown. - Kevin Garnett's mug connecting with Anthony Peeler's fist was a side show, mean to derail the Wolves. It can only be concluded as such due to the evidence readily available. I mean the automatic penalty is suspension for retaliating. Who's a bigger piece to their franchise. The Kings are desperate, they would try anything, and this game had its share of violence. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made, and KG made his, enduring the televison broadcast humiliation. If KG had retaliated we would've just relegated him to that underachieving status he'd sported till now. To go back to that mold over petty skirmishes? Not after waiting so long to get here. If the Timberwolves hang game seven on their belt (which we forcast happening) who will be talking about that punch? << Previous Next >> Back to 2003-04 archive © 2001-2004 H o o p s C o r n e r . c o m, All rights reserved Terms of service Privacy policy Contact |
