Game 4 of the NBA's Eastern Conference finals is today in Detroit (actually Auburn Hills). This game can either unformally end the series with the Pistons going up 3-1 or give it new life with the Pacers getting even at 2-2. The last 2 games have been decided with the team with the better late game strategy. The Pistons relying on their shared offense system have had many players step up to make key plays. The Pacers have Reggie Miller. Too bad the days of his almighty power are close to 10 years back, when many of his teammates were still in high school. Toward the end of games 2 and especially 3, we believe Reggie Miller has cost the Pacers various key plays. Sure he can still shoot, but with anyone guarding him, at 39, he no longer has the legs at the end of the game to elude his guards. In his better days a few quick dribbles to the side and the defense will wonder what they did wrong. Coach Rick Carlisle has to be seeing all this unfold, and now needs to make a change. There are solid crunch time players on the Pacers. Reggie shouldn't be the first option. Indiana's studs of Jermaine O'neal, Ron Artest, Al Harrington and co. need a chance to decide this series for themselves. << Previous Next >> Back to 2003-04 archive © 2001-2004 H o o p s C o r n e r . c o m, All rights reserved Terms of service Privacy policy Contact |
