Trials in Minneapolis

The Minnesota Timberwolves' playoff run is about to end where it started - Minneapolis. It doesn't seem fair to be discounting Minnesota right about now, but it's hard not to. The only ones not in belief that this series is over is the Minnesota squad itself. But do they really? We'll find out.

However we've made our verdict on this matchup. Wheter TNT pockets a few more advertising dollars or not this stands: Lakers 2004 Western champions.

The Timberwolves can find solace in the fact that:
  • only the mighty 4 headed monster Lakers could topple them,
  • the Lakers had four Stars starting while the Wolves could only manage two (lucky Derek Fisher and Gary Payton),
  • they contributed to the research on perfecting hack-a-Shaq,
  • they had the best bench player in Wally Sczerbiak,
  • the Lakers' "designated thug", Stanislav Medvedenko, did no major damage.
Now a few questions need to be answered if the Timberwolves believe they can still do something significant:
  • Will Kevin Garnett fend off the L.A 4th quarter defense?
  • Will the rest of the team be able to feed off Wally Sczerbiak's energy?
  • Can KG's youth outclass Malone's experience?
  • Can Madsen, Miller, and Olowokandi form a Shaq busting trio?
  • Will Sprewell work Kobe on defense with some potent offense?
  • Will Cassell find a miracle cure?
  • Will elephants ever fly?
