Last night in Phoenix, the Detroit Pistons whipped the Suns 100 to 91. So far it looks like Larry Brown is a good fit for the team. He's made changes that are seemingly helping the team, and of course he's Larry Brown, always quality coaching service. Ben Wallace scored 13 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, and Richard Hamilton had 27 on 10 for 20 shooting. shawn Marion and Stephon Marbury each had 19 points in trying to keep pace, but came up short. As we said earlier Larry Brown looks like a good fit for the team. Too bad it seems he was even before he left the Sixers. One glance at Tayshaun Prince (now Larry Brown's starting small forward), brings all that back to us. In last season's NBA playoffs, during the Eastern conference semi-finals matchup between the Sixers and Pistons, in game five (we think) of the series, you would have thought Coach Brown was brain dead. Go ahead fetch a copy of the game and see for yourself. Towards the end of the game Aaron McKie was matched up against Tayshaun Prince. If you had never seen NBA basketball before, and had to draw a conclusion from that matchup you would have said Prince is the NBA MVP and McKie is the best defender on the sorry opposing team. Tayshaun Prince had his way with Aaron McKie, scored, kept getting the ball, scored, displayed and elaborate arsenal of offensive moves, scored, demanded the ball, scored, and guess what - there was never a double team. Did we mention him scoring at will? Now Larry Brown is at the helm and after remotely testing Prince, nominated him starting small forward. << Previous Next >> Back to 2003-04 archive Back to top
