He was criticized, verbally beaten, downgraded, taken for granted, and labeled a no show at key times. Deservingly? Let's think about that one. One Mississippi... Yes! Now as yesterday's game might lead us to believe, he's found the fountain of youth and taken a gulp from it. He's rejuvenated. There's still 81 games left, but Toronto's Vince Carter looks to be in full form, and has saddled for the long haul. Bring on all comers, including the pen and paper army - the critics. After Carter's Raptors manhandled the Nets, all that was said is "he's back". As much as we like Air Canada, we still do need more courting. If you go on the Toronto Raptors website, the top banner says "renew your passion". Oh we will all right. We'll be expectant. However though we still have to tip our hat to Mr Carter for working his way back (for 2 years, talk about resilience) to this point. It shows in fact that he did care. The only reason he looked indifferent to the criticisms is because he was powerless. But that's past now (we hope). cheers to Raptors management for gutting it out with Vince. Now to renew our passion for the best hoops team in canada: first anything less than 70 games for carter wouldn't cut it, he needs at least 2 games where he outplays any one of the super swingmen (Tracy McGrady, Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson), and wins, Toronto has to be in the playoff hunt by the All-Star break (top 10) in the East, oh and the big one he has to look more like a predator, if coach Kevin O'Neill's effect is really working. << Previous Next >> Back to 2003-04 archive Back to top
