The stage is set

Chris Webber's stay in Philadelphia has been nothing short of disapointing for him and anyone watching with expectations.

However all is not lost. In a 108-91 win over the Lakers yesterday, it was said that Allen Iverson chipped a bone on one of his left hand fingers. Ouch! But knowing the way Iverson recovers from injury you'll always have an optimistic outlook about such things.

How does that relate to Chris Webber? Well this is his Grand Moment. At this point the team, the coach and the fans are looking for anyone to step up to take the heat off of The Answer. They shouldn't have to look far because General Manager Billy King did prepare for such a moment, with Chris Webber.

Whatever it takes for C Webb to wake up and seize the moment, the 76ers should do it. This duo coud possibly do some damage in terms of getting the team to the playoffs, and even possibly upset some teams if the chemistry gels well.

But now we think it's all in Coach Jim O'Brien's court, and he's going to have to take a leap of faith and put the ball in Webber's dexterous hands. It couldn't get worse. The team is out of the playoffs, and Boston is only climbing up the charts.

******

By any stretch we never thought discussing Chris Webber would be such a boring topic. But as it is, it's a fact. He stopped trying at basketball, he has no aspect of novelty, and simply no impact on the sport.

But all this could have been remedied.

Sometime, about three years ago, Chris Webber was infuriated when reporters started writing about his relationship with model Tyra Banks. Now his personal life has been left alone and we all focused on his basketball side.

But he didn't give us much there either. And now nothing at all. Come on Chris, many headlines could have been made with news on You and Tyra!

Besides the massive popularity might have kept you in Sactown. If the team isn't winning a title at least they would have liked to cash in on your name. Hey just look at the 76ers, they keep Iverson around, no matter what and to a lesser degree the Nets trying to hold on to Jason Kidd.
