Word out of Charlotte is that Michael Jordan is contemplating whether to replace head coach Sam Vincent. Team owner Robert Johnson has already given his support for Sam. But he's leaving the final decision to Michael Jordan, the Bobcats president of basketball operations. It seems Jordan is seriously looking at a change, but no one knows for sure. He's claiming that Sam made some rookie mistakes, and the team has not met expectations. If the the team boss wants the coach back we think it's probably a good idea. What would the world be without mistakes? Besides, even the best make mistakes. If any expections have not been met however, it's Jordan's impact on the Bobcats. For all his popularity, he's been relatively invisible in the front office. As far as his eye for talent as an executive, there's really nothing to cheer about either. We doubt a coaching change will bring any sgnificant success next season. However if Air really wanted a turn around in the team, we're sure he already knows that through his involvement the team can actually feed off, his energy. We feel if he simply made himself more visible with the team, the media buzz generated will thrust the team into the spotlight, and they will simply want to perform harder to satisfy the extra glare. Since it seems that Jordan has been side tracked from the Bobcats, what has been capturing his interest, you might wonder? For those who don't know, Money is a huge sport bike fan. He owns AMA Superbike and Supersport teams, Jordan Suzuki. We've got to admit that we've very much fans of his squads and lead rider Aaron Yates as well. This season they're liveried in the powder blue color of the North Carolina Tar Heels. Last year he was spotted at several races. With their performance last year it's safe to say that MJ himself was very much in the thick of things. They were outpacing factory teams. So while Jordan might be interested in finding a replacement fot Sam Vincent, we just think he's the one who needs to ante up as far as his involvement with the franchise. Being in Charlotte the fan support will always be there for anything involving #23, and they have the star potential on the court with Jason Richardson to keep the fans intertained. Jordan can do for the Bobcats what Pat Croce did in the 2000-2001 season for the 76ers: make an underpowered team think and do big things. << Previous Next >> 2007-08 archive © 2001-2008 H o o p s C o r n e r . c o m, All rights reserved Terms of service Privacy policy Contact |
