Best of the Cavaliers

Over the years, Cleveland has had big hopes for their basketball squads and stars. Yet however at the end of every promising season, the fans never got to boo a team from the other conference, let alone be the only team standing - there was a certain #23 making things difficult for their superstar center Brad Daugherty and point guard Mark Price.

In 2003 the Cavaliers finally landed a #23 of their own, with plenty of expectations on hand LeBron James so far has not disappointed. Last year Cleveland attended their first finals ever. They weren't competitive at all, but the journey to there was the bigger story.

With all expectations sky high for LeBron he can only reach them one by one. The latest one is becoming the team's all time scoring record holder. Cleveland beat Toronto 90-83 with LeBron contributing 29. LeBron now has 10,414 and counting to 5 time all-star Daugherty's 10,389. And he's only in his 5th season, and could well be in the league for another 10 or more.

Brad Daugherty was forced to retire from the league after back troubles began preventing him from being and effective NBA player. With him along with Danny Ferry, Mark Price, and Ron Harper, the Cavaliers were a strong finals hopeful. They lost in the first round to the Bulls in 1989 on MJ's buzzer beater. Then in 1992 they lost again to Chicago in the conference finals 4-2.

LeBron James' achievement also has cemented him as Cleveland's best player ever. In effect the city of Cleveland has a living legend still tearing it up day in and day out.
