After a free-throw shot why do players high five each other? Especially after a missed shot. I think it just disrupts their rhythm. Considering that in practice or an empty gym a solid NBA free throw shooter can easily make 30 or more consecutive free throws, their rhythm isn't easily disturbed. During game situations however when quiet time is impossible at an away game, high-fiving your teammates actually takes you back to practice. In effect at the game, high fiving after a free throw actually builds the players' rhythm and confidence...easy as practice. So given the above reasons a hand shake or high five becomes even more invaluable after a missed shot.
