Ode to Baron

The Charlotte Hornets have gotten past the first-round of the playoffs without their leading scorer Jamal Mashburn. If you take a look at the remaining squads, you'll notice that no other team in the second round could have accomplished such feat.

During the regular season, Elden Campbell was there, and Mashburn did come back from injury to spark a playoff run, but the direction of this team literaly and figuratively rested on one of their teammate.

The Bees seem to be poised for a move to New Orleans, and to show Baron Davis that his effort is being appreciated...

A capable floor general you are
Everything you do sets you apart

Nothing anybody does is more unique
Few 1 players can soar like 'Nique

You came up like The King did
But your game was that of a kid

Now here you are; the main man
Matching up with the best, you can

You can light up like Paris
Your deep prowess we cherish

Sweeter than fine home cooking
Your dishes keep your army going

Triple teams will fall in shame
Your sharp-shooters aren't lame

At the sight of you body-slamers cave in
Yet knowing your big men can fill the tin

Fans and defenders alike you mesmerize
Your might isn't reflected by your size

The franchise is in a bind
Times seemed to turn unkind

We could only see dark
The reality was stark

But then in the tunnel was a light
It was you, the apple of our sight

We've never had such high level of dynamics
The boss isn't very fond of high economics

A large audience you truly do deserve
Our attendance you shouldn't observe

Despite Duke and Carolina, if the team departs
The Will of Baron Davis will be in our hearts
